Amazon Kindle DX Review

The kindle Lighted Cover is a great accessory for your kindle. Now you can protect and illuminate your expedient with this new cover.

After receiving the Kindle as a gift, I discovered the expedient did not comprise a back light or other type of lighting capabilities to illuminate the paper-like display. The screen works great in just about any setting, together with locations where glare would be a qoute with other transportable media devices. The device, however, is virtually impossible to read in the dark. Fortunately, the lighted cover provides the excellent solution.

The cover has a retractable Led light which slides out from the top right hand corner of the cover. The cover has an ingenious gold-plated hinge ideas which conducts electricity from the device's battery to the Led light. The cover has no loose wires, no plug-in wall adapter and no extra batteries.

The strong contoured, pebble-grain leather outside cover serves as a great protective cover for your device. An elastic strap holds the covers together should you accidentally drop or mishandle the Kindle while travelling. The cover also serves as a great splash guard from liquids but does not serve as a waterproof case.

The inside cover is lined with a soft microfiber designed to protect the screen. The cover's spine can be folded back to let you hold the Kindle with one hand. The Led light is still operable when the cover is folded back.

The cover is ready in Black, Burnt Orange, Chocolate Brown, Hot Pink, Steel Blue, Apple Green and Burgundy Red. Some beneficial weights and measurements are below:

* Weight of lighted stock alone = 8.2 oz

* Weight of lighted stock with expedient = 15.75 oz

* Weight of non-lighted stock = 6.1 oz

* Weight of non-lighted stock with expedient = 13.65 oz

* Thickness of lighted stock with expedient = 3/4"

* Width of Spine = 7/8"

* Area of Front/Back covers = 7 3/4" x 5 1/8"

There are a merge of differences between the lighted cover and the regular non-lighted cover. The lighted cover weighs almost 2.1 oz more than the regular cover and its spine has a minute added thickness. These differences are due to the lighting components inside the back cover. I find these differences negligible compared to the benefits received from the light.

In conclusion, the lighted cover is an excellent accessory for your Kindle by solving its lighting problem.
