I am a reader. I love stories and the books they come from. I was skeptical as to either I would like a kindle or not- I worried that it would compromise my reading experience. However, after getting one I have been converted to the electronic reading movement. The kindle from Amazon is light-weight, easy to read, and very user-friendly.
Reading from a screen may take a minuscule to get used to but after I start reading I forget all about the screen. The words are clear and printed in typical book font. I click from page to page with a side button. The screen is not backlit so it doesn't look like a computer screen it looks just like the page of a book. The font size can be changed to bigger or smaller, depending on the reader's needs. The home button takes me to a list of all the books downloaded to my kindle and with each book I click on it will automatically take me to the last page I was reading. I can never loose my place!
There are several features to the kindle that I like. I am able to feature and take notes on anyone I am reading. Where ever I make a note the Kindle adds a minuscule footnote so that later on I can cursor over to the footnote and my recorded thoughts will appear at the bottom of the screen. This is a great feature, especially when reading books for school and I need to "write in the margin."

The Kindle comes with a dictionary that I can either look up words in or, while reading, I can move the cursor over a word and the definition will appear at the bottom of the page. (A great feature for young kids with a minuscule vocabulary.) The Kindle has a wireless web browser that allows me to go online whenever I want. This will not take the place of a laptop but its great for on the go research about what I'm reading. The text-to-speech feature reads aloud to you but the voice is computerized and stinted, so I normally don't use it. However, if I have to drive somewhere but don't want to quit reading this feature is nice. I've also heard that you can download music and the Kindle will play it.
Another great thing about the Kindle is that I have a bookstore ready at the touch of a button. There are tons of books, magazines, newspapers, and blogs ready from Amazon...and all at a discounted price. Some books, classics like Wuthering Heights and minuscule Women, are free. If I am not sure I want to buy a book I can download a sample of the book (about the first 30 pages) for free. So when I travel, get stuck at home while a snowstorm, or just don't want to go out I can still get books.
What I love most is that I can carry my library with me. When I go on a trip I just have to carry my Kindle instead of several books. All in all, I'm very satisfied with my Kindle and would by all means; of course recommend it.
